The ban of single-use plastic is spreading throughout cities across Canada and the U.S. (did you partake in #PlasticFreeJuly?) and it has us here at BDirty Co. making environmental changes of our own.
Vancouver has banned the use of plastic straws, foam cups, and foam takeout containers, being the largest city in Canada taking on this movement, according to The Globe and Mail, and other cities are following suit. Yeah! We’ve learned that Victoria, BC is on board with the ban of single-use plastic bags and Deep Cove, BC has put a ban on plastic straws already! In the U.S. Malibu, California has put a ban on single-use plastic bags and utensils, and Seattle has banned Styrofoam, and now straws!
What we’re doing to limit single-use plastic on the Farmstead
On the Farmstead, where we hand-pour our BDirty Co. Deodorants, we do our best to avoid single-use plastic. We’re always carrying with us our metal straws, travel mugs, water bottles, glass storage containers for take-out or leftovers and our own reusable bags! We’ve even been using wooden toothbrushes! Check out these minimal toothbrushes made of activated charcoal and sustainable bamboo!
How BDirty Co. is supporting the ban of single-use plastic
At BDirty Co. it has been our mission to do our part in protecting the environment and Mother Nature’s beautiful wildlife. That’s why we are excited to announce that our 25g Organic Deodorants will now have metal lids to accommodate the current glass jars! The new lids are 100% recyclable and plastic-free. You will start to see these new lids in the upcoming months. We are also working on finding a local metal lid supplier for our 70g jars, leaving no stone unturned!
How can you join us by being a part of the plastic free movement? We encourage you to hand wash and reuse our BDirty Co. Deodorant jars if you have the recyclable plastic lids.
10 ways to reuse our BDirty Co. Deodorant jars:
- Fill with supplements for travel
- Make your own natural and clean candle
- Use as a spice jar
- Store your salad dressing in the 25g jar for lunch at the office
- Bring to your favourite zero-packaging grocery store and fill with a new spice, seasoning, or oil
